Patrolman  Henry Callanen was shot and killed while moonlighting at a local McDonald's. While going to make a bank deposit he was shot and killed by two suspects who confronted him.

Patrolman Callanen had been with the agency for 36 years.  Officer Henry Callanen had worked a walk beat in the downtown area for several years.  Officers that are assigned to the Community Orientated Police Program (COPP) now use the radio designator "Henry" units, in honor of Officer Callanen.
