David E. Barnett, 02/13/1991 Updated On: Mar 67, 2014 Patrolman David Barnett was shot and killed while trying to stop an armed robbery at a Waffle House.  Officer Barnett was off-duty and in civilian dress, when he confronted a suspect that was attempting to rob the restaurant.  While Officer Barnett was struggling with the armed assailant, he was shot and killed by a second suspect.  Officer Barnett is survived by his mother and two brothers.
